Leashes and Collars

Leather Dog Collar

• If you plan to use Essential Oils for your dogs flea/tick prevention you’ll want to get a leather collar because you will apply the oils to the inside of the collar. A fabric collar will not work for Essential Oils.

We recommend using a plain old 4-6 foot least. I DO NOT suggest using the retractable leashes. It’s always ideal to keep your dog close to you even on walks as you don’t know what situations you’ll come upon whether it be a snake or another dog who is aggressive, you’ll want to be able to get your dog back to your side quickly and if they’re 12 or 20 feet away on a retractable leash getting them near you quickly isn’t possible.

• Clicker training is the easiest way to train your puppy as you wean off of treats. You don’t want to have to give treats forever. The clicker provides the reinforcement that essentially says “good dog” as you wean from treats to praise.

• A treat pouch is a must-have when working with a puppy, otherwise you end up with dog food in the pockets of every jacket/coat/pants you own! This pouch has a clip you can just slip onto the edge of your pants and a handy drawstring to close the pouch.

Treats

Use caution with all treats. Too many treats can cause loose stools because they’re so rich. We strongly encourage just using a piece of their food for their treats, they don’t know the difference. Save the treats until you are doing more intense training for sit, stay, come, down, etc. Use the kibble until they require more motivation. We recommend the following treats for your dog(s):

Coat Maintenance and Care Items

Ear Canker Powder – 0.5 oz

• We recommend Thornit Ear Powder, but it’s made in the UK and only available to order from them. You can do that for about $25 or the ingredients in this powder look similar. You will experience a yeast infection in your dog’s ears because doodles have ear flaps that block the ear canal, trapping in moisture.

• This will remove the mats that need a little more work on them than the rake above can do. This is my go-to mat removing tool.

• These clippers are easy to use with the sharp little puppy nails. You will want to move up to the larger clippers below as your pup’s nails get thicker.

We send each of our puppies home with an Unstuffies toy, but we get so many inquiries from owners wanting to order their pup another one after the first one is destroyed, so here are a few options! You will want to make sure you’re ordering the “small” which is 15.5″ as the “large” which is 22 inches does have a squeaker and cannot hold a water bottle, which is what the pups usually like about it.

• Chewing is a natural behavior for puppies. Chewing releases endorphins and is soothing. Providing healthy and natural chewing options such as antlers and bully sticks is a great option. Always make sure your pup is supervised when chewing as to make sure they don’t break off a piece and swallow it.

• If you have a pup that likes to inhale their food this is the bowl for them! They have to slow down and can’t gobble their food so quickly.

Food

Your pup has been eating Fromm Puppy Gold. We suggest using it for the first few months. However, it’s always good to provide your pup with a variety of protein sources to avoid the development of food allergies plus adding variety as none of us want to eat the same food day in and day out every meal.

To transition, mix the two foods together over a week slowly transitioning from 75/25, then 50/50 and then 25/75 to full transition. You can also just mix two bags together evenly and serve them a combo of the two all the time.

Change in diet can cause gas, but if you notice other more concerning issues, then listen to your dog and either slow the transition or stay with the original food.

You should switch your puppy to an adult or all life’s stages food around 9–12 months of age.
