Blessed Day Doodles

Have a puppy adoption-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and call or text us today for more information!

  • Where are you located?

Our location is in Harrisonville, MO, approximately 40 minutes south of Kansas City and about an hour and fifteen minutes away from Kansas City International Airport.

  • Do I need to fill out an application to be considered for a puppy?

Certainly! Kindly complete the Puppy Application. Your responses to these questions will enable us to understand you better and assist in selecting the ideal puppy for you and your family. We do ask for your commitment to cherish your new puppy as much as it will cherish you!

  • How do I reserve a puppy?

To secure a puppy, please complete the application and specify your preferences for color, sex, and size. Upon reviewing your application, we will promptly provide information regarding our current availability or details about upcoming litters. If the litter has been bred or has already been born, a $500 deposit will be required to reserve a puppy from that particular litter.

  • Is the deposit refundable?

The $500 deposit is non-refundable. This policy is in place to discourage individuals from placing their names on multiple breeder lists and then choosing the first available puppy. Early in the process, we carefully assess the characteristics and personality traits of our puppies to match them with the best-suited families who have placed a deposit.

By implementing a non-refundable deposit, we aim to ensure a higher level of commitment from individuals, reducing impulsive decisions often made when seeking the first available puppy or simply being drawn to a cute appearance.

  • How does the waiting list work?

The waiting list operates by having you select four puppies from the litter you're interested in after placing a deposit. At 8 weeks of age, the puppies are allocated based on a temperament assessment and your responses to a questionnaire about the desired temperament.

While we take your preferences into account, we prioritize the well-being of both the puppy and your family. For instance, we would not place a timid or shy puppy in a home with several young children solely based on color and sex preferences. Similarly, an active, outgoing, or assertive puppy would not be placed in a home with a less active, retired couple if it doesn't align with their lifestyle.

  • What will my puppy come to me with?

Upon arrival, your puppy will be equipped with age-appropriate vaccinations and dewormings, accompanied by a 5-day general health guarantee. The package includes a vaccination record, a comprehensive 26-month health guarantee covering genetic hip and eye defects, a sample bag of puppy food, a basic training and puppy training book, a puppy toy, and a blanket/towel infused with the scents of the mother and litter mates. Additionally, you'll receive a NuVet pamphlet and vitamin sample, 30 days of complimentary pet insurance from Trupanion, and a pedigree.

As part of our commitment to your puppy's well-being, a professional trainer conducts a training session during the pick-up process. We facilitate group pick-up sessions for added convenience.

  • When will I be able to choose a puppy?

Puppy selection takes place at 7 weeks old, coinciding with the emergence of temperament testing and the distinct personality traits of each puppy. Selection is based on the order of deposits placed on the deposit list, allowing you to choose a puppy that aligns with your preferences and the characteristics revealed during the temperament testing process.

  • Do you guarantee the health of your puppies?

Certainly! We provide a 5-day general health guarantee covering canine parvovirus, canine distemper, and hepatitis. Additionally, there is a 26-month guarantee against any hip and eye defects, with diagnoses conducted exclusively by the Orthopedic Foundation of America and the Canine Eye Registration Foundation.

  • Are they all allergy-friendly?

While no breed of dog is universally allergy-friendly, individuals who have purchased puppies from us and experienced allergies to dander have reported a higher tolerance to the labradoodle breed. Labradoodles are known for being low to non-shedding and dander-free.

It's important to note that we do not offer puppies on a trial basis. In the event of an allergy issue arising after the puppy purchase, you should carefully consider your options. If there's available space, we may be able to take the puppy back, but no refund will be provided. If we cannot take the puppy back, we will assist you in rehoming it, and you are required to provide us with the new owner's name for our records, as specified in our contract/guarantee. It's crucial to emphasize that our puppies should never be placed in a shelter or rescue organization, and this commitment is reiterated in the agreement you sign before puppy pick up/delivery.

Prior to purchasing a puppy, please reflect on this as it involves a lifetime commitment. We are more than willing to provide references of nearby doodle owners who would allow you to meet their dogs, offering insight into how your allergies may react in their presence.

  • What is the difference between F1, F2, F1B, and Multigenerational Doodles?

F1 Doodles: Comprising 50% retriever and 50% poodle, F1 doodles often exhibit more lab-like features with wispy-wavy hair. Their coats are relatively low-maintenance, requiring occasional brushing. Shedding levels vary from low to moderate, differing among individual puppies.

F2 Doodles: The offspring of two F1 doodles, F2 doodles present less predictable coats compared to F1s. Since F1 doodles are 50% retriever and 50% poodle, some F2 puppies may inherit more retriever genes, others more poodle genes, and some may have an equal mix. This results in a few puppies resembling their parents, while the majority exhibit characteristics of either a retriever or a poodle.

F1B Doodles: Comprising 75% poodle and 25% retriever, F1B doodles are non-shedding and more hypoallergenic than F1 doodles. Their coats are very wavy to curly, resembling that of a poodle. However, they do require more frequent brushing and grooming to maintain their curlier coat.

Multigen Doodles: Produced from an F1B bred to another F1B (an F3), multigen doodles are a result of breeding generations to consistently produce low-shed coats. This breeding strategy aims to reduce the risk of dander associated with breeding closer to the retriever lines.

Australian Labradoodles: Born from an F1B (or greater) bred to an Australian labradoodle, these doodles share the non-shedding characteristic of F1Bs. However, they may require more frequent brushing and grooming, depending on the desired length of their coats.

  • What is a low to non-shed coat type?

Australian Labradoodles and Goldendoodles are known for their low to non-shed coats. We strive to produce fleece coats and occasionally wool coats. Fleece coats vary from an open wavy fleece coat to a curly fleece coat. Both are easy to maintain and are more relaxed than the wool, poodle-type coat. We do offer some wool coat puppies for severe allergy suffers. A wool coat is better for even lower risks of allergy issues.
